About Big Green Egg

How to use the EGG
The Big Green Egg is designed to be left with the lid closed while cooking which makes it much easier for you to relax and enjoy the experience of barbecuing without constantly turning and tending. The BBQ lights quickly, without lighter fluid, and can be ready to cook within 15 minutes. It is also an incredibly fuel efficient way to barbecue so there is no need to add more charcoal whilst cooking.
Big Green Eggs are designed to run on natural lump charcoal which burns hotter and with fewer impurities than briquettes and doesn’t contain chemicals or fillers. Never use briquettes or lighter fluid in the Big Green Egg because their chemicals can be absorbed by the EGG and transfer these unnatural flavours into your food. Do not burn wood on your EGG.
”Burping” the EGG is an important technique which helps prevent flashbacks and potential burns, particularly when cooking at high temperatures. Lift the lid about 2 inches and bounce it up and down slightly for a few seconds, allowing the rush of oxygen to burn safely before opening the lid fully.
When you have finished cooking replace the dual-function metal top with the ceramic snuffer cap and close the bottom vents to put out the flames. The unburned charcoal can then be used the next time you cook. Items which are not protected by the durable enamel should be kept out of the elements – keep internal components inside the EGG and store the dual-function metal top internally to protect it from rusting when the EGG is not in use.
